I was looking through my installed mods before loading my last save. I noticed that several mods (I don't use a large number of them) had updates and I installed them from there. When I loaded my last save I saw a dialog I'd never seen before that said something about recipes - can't remember exactly what. I figured it was just something that normally happened as a result of updating those mods and proceeded on. At first I couldn't tell anything was wrong. The area I was working on wasn't near the main factory and I made some changes then did a save over the one I had loaded before shutting down my laptop.
After starting back up later and loading the last save, I quickly realized that many hundreds of assemblers contained no recipe. It will take many, many hours to update all of the assemblers with their lost recipes and I doubt there's anything I can do to reverse the situation, but I'm desperate to know what caused this mini-disaster so that I can avoid it later. Obviously I'm not understanding some crucial detail about what all happens when mods are updated to latest versions. I have Space Age installed but I'm still happily on Nauvis where I have many factories that will need to be updated.

Could someone please explain? (and maybe surprise me with a way I can reverse my f**k-up?)
Many thanks!
(UPDATE) Is there a way to revert to previous versions of mods if I have recent' backups of everything? I'm not certain where stuff is stored and I'm playing on a MacBook M3 Pro although I also have a couple of Windows laptops that I play on from time to time.
