How to color train wagons?

Hi!

I loaded my vanilla 1.1 factory into vanilla 2.0 and noticed that my train wagons are colored. The locos have the setting "use color of destination stop" activated.

However, in my new vanilla 2.0 base, the wagons do not apply the color of the destination stop, even though I activated the setting: Only the locos change their color based on the destination stop -- the wagons remain uncolored.

Why is this? Am I missing something? How do I get colored wagons in a vanilla factory that was started 2.0?

I still believe this was the correct answer, changing the wagon's color do not seem supported in vanilla factorio or space age factorio.

There may be something that happened during the migration of the save game that make it seem like it is a feature from the game but to reproduce it on demand seem a lucky hack when it works editing blueprints or similar attempts that are not guaranteed to continue working in the long-run.

The supported setting as described in the FFF seem to only apply to locomotives being colored.

Your input made me realize, that colored train wagons have been in the game for years, and are *not* a new feature since 2.0. Migration of the save file has inadvertedly uncovered this hidden feature, making me think it is new in 2.0, because I hadn't ever seen colored train wagons before 2.0 and was not aware of the mod you linked.

I suspect there's a "bug" in this regards. I have a game that I started new in Space Age. Wagons were happily uncolored, and only the locomotives changed color. But now, when I look back on Nauvis, I do see a couple (not all) of the trains now have colored wagons. I suspect that the wagons that are now colored are the ones that have been performing operations after I left Nauvis and started futzing around on other planets.

And I can verify that this particular save game has never had a mod installed (other than the Space Age stuff).

Yeah I have also seen a few (not all) colored trains wagons in a 2.0 vanilla multiplayer game of the "Assembly Storm Weekly" community. I asked them how they did it but no one could explain it.

mmmPI's info was the most helpful to me: Colored train wagons are not a feature, just occaisionally unintentially exposed through some weird glitch. Now I can make peace with it.
