Unable to play Space Exploration + Krastorio 2 together

Unable to play Space Exploration + Krastorio 2 together

I beat Space Age, but wanted more Factorio. Tried several mods like Seablock and Pyanodon, but they are rather advanced. I pretty much have one playthrough of vanilla, and one playthrough of Space Age.

So I start downloading and messing with mods for the first time, and I notice Krastorio 2 requires an older flib version or something, and will not allow me to play.

I have a steam version that is up-to-date with 2.0, where I have pyanodon installed and ready to go, and then I downloaded 1.1.110 for mods not yet ready for 2.0. They all seem to work except Krastorio, or any Krastorio integration.

Krastorio 2 is always in red and I get errors like this

Now obviously I understand it requires the old file library 1.12 or whatever it is, but is this a common issue? Is there a known way to resolve this?

I can disable Krastorio and Space Exploration works fine by itself. I started messing around in Space Exploration and before I knew it I have like 5 hours in and preapring for blue science but I'm not sure I want to continue. I joined a multiplayer server with SE/Krastorio 2 enabled and it looked cool. Anyway thanks for any help.

Glad you're keeping the 1.1 mods alive!

Try using the actual Krastorio2 mod from raiguard instead of a random fork.

Use https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Krastorio2

Not https://mods.factorio.com/mod/Krastorio2_EI_SE

Not sure how you found that one if you aren't using Exotic Industries.

In this case I recommend to forget about SE until it will be ready for 2.0 and you will have dozens finished game sessions in not so big mods. Though It was one of the best mods for 1.1 it never was for novice and now we have SA which in some sense is SE done right - more interesting, much less grinding.
Rough estimations for game duration for average player:
vanilla 1.1 - 10 hours
krastorio2 - 30 hours
SA - 40 hours
SE - 300 hours

Thanks guys. It randomly started working.

And I assumed I was getting the official Krastorio 2 files, I think I tried both.

Yeah I'm feeling that. Its weird, I just kind of want MORE Factorio, but by mid Gleba, and Aquilo, I start getting turned off by those mechanics, so I kind of did a fast, really enjoyable playthrough, but whats preventing me from going again is the Gleba/Aquilo aspects. But it has me fiending for more Factorio, but yeah I'm feeling the grind and I've only just automated green science cards. I tried Pyanodons since its ready for 2.0 but its kicking my ass. So I don't know perhaps I'll give it another break and wait like you said.

It all depends on what you like. SE is also a long mod, but it's a different complexity than Pyanodon. Py's are managing many (many) different recipe chains. Whereas SE has much simpler recipes, and is focussed on interplanetary logistics. The the logisitcs in SE is fun to solve, you have more control than in SA because your ships actually lands on the planets to load/unload. And you have different options available for interplanetary logitics with different benifits. That's my preference, I don't like managing many recipes, but seeing a complicated logistics system run is super satisfying.

Well, in that case it may suits you. SE planets are not so different from Nauvis as SA ones. Every special resource has its own chain but not so new mechanic and rest of factory is the same. Still I would suggest to play K2 first and only then K2+SE. They have many similar ideas like tech cards for science but SE author loves grinding and in result similar recipes have much worse ratios in K2+SE than in K2. So worse that it kills many ideas. For example it is quite fun to create green factory in K2 from the very beginning but impossible in SE+K2.
