[2.0.32] Crash clicking Multiplayer -> Browse public games

Post by PyroGamer666 »

This crash occurs when attempting to browse public multiplayer games in the server browser. After receiving a response from the server, the game will crash with an unexpected error. This crash does not occur if I disconnect my computer from the internet and do the same thing. Instead, the game will return a 520 status code. Once the user is in this menu, reconnecting to the network and waiting for the server browser to refresh will allow the user to browse the server browser without crashing. Closing the game and trying to repeat the procedure while connected to the network will result in the same crash.

Reproduction:

1. Open Factorio 2.0.32 with no mods loaded.

2. Attempt to browse public multiplayer games by clicking "Multiplayer" -> "Browse public games"

3. The game will throw an unexpected error and prompt the user to review factorio-current.log.

Re: [2.0.32] SIGSEGV crash when clicking Multiplayer -> Browse public games

It's not completely clear why, but emptying my mods folder solved the problem. I spent some time before this problem appeared downloading a large number of random mods for the sake of doing automated testing, and at least one of those mods makes it impossible to browse multiplayer servers.

The crash is pointing at failing to lock a mutex when trying to ping a multiplayer address. I don't see how having mods installed - or even active - would cause that to fail.

Are you able to get it back into the crashing state?
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
