[2.0.28] - Pop!_OS cannot insert large import strings for blueprints

Post by IncrediblePony »

Hello everyone.

I have bought Space Age and I have begun following Nilaus again and building alongside him. I started right back at "Base-in-a-book" (https://cdn.factoriobin.com/perma/bp/9/ ... Omc5-0.txt) and wanted to import it.

Apparently there is an X11 issue where large clipboard items cannot be inserted. I tried switching to Wayland in the graphics settings of the game and I've tried to set it as a launch option in Steam that the game should use Wayland. Neither really did the trick. Is there a file or folder where I can put my blueprints by hand on my system? Or is there a way yo expand the buffersize of the clipboard in Pop!_OS which gives the game access to it? I can go through the blueprints one by one and import them no problem. It's only when the import strings get large.

Thank you!

As per 116367 Importing large strings is broken on Linux, version 2.0.25 added
  • Dragging and dropping a blueprint file into the game window will import the file contents as a blueprint string.
  • Dragging and dropping text into the game window on X11 will import the text as a blueprint string.
Could you try that?

You are a lifesaver! Thank you!

I had read this release note somewhere and I tried dragging the marked text from my editor into the paste window in Factorio, but that didn't work. I never thought of just dragging and dropping the txt file into the game :)
