Hey! I have transported 1K orange science packs from Vulcanus to Nauvis.
Somehow I eneded up with only being 999 used in the research.
Nothing on the ground, nothing on the station
I have been making some screenshots during the game but no clear clue how could I lost that 1 pack
During the research there was en electricity outage, can that affect how labs process science?
Is this my oversight or a bug?

Re: Lost 1 Science Pack
The math used to calculate Science Pack "% remaining" is not exact, and is subject to Rounding errors. I have not tested if Power Outages / Brownouts have an additional effect here.
Re: Lost 1 Science Pack
Rounding error from daisy chaining labs, is my guess.
Solution : dont send “just enough” packs to the labs. Instead, flood them with the limit that your belts/bots can deliver!

Wow! Thank you for these answers, they are very relevant and helpful!
Re: [SOLVED] Lost 1 Science Pack
Sorry but how exactly is this solved? I've had an instance of crafting 500 blue science and research ended at 499.
Re: [SOLVED] Lost 1 Science Pack
It's solved in the sense that OP got an answer as to how it happened.BHakluyt wrote: Sun Dec 29, 2024 5:40 pm Sorry but how exactly is this solved? I've had an instance of crafting 500 blue science and research ended at 499.
In your case, was the whole 500 research uninterrupted, or, as was mentioned above, were there small interruptions - power outage/brownout, inserters/player moving flasks between labs? These can result in rounding errors, making, e.g., 499.95 science out of 500 flasks.
