[SA] Fastest (and cursiest) ways of transporting items

Post by Hares »

In vanilla, a cursed wagon belt design can be faster in transporting items than two adjacent blue belts. However, what's the fastest and densest way of transporting items in the Space Age? Is it 4-stacked turbo transport belts? Is it legendary stack inserters moving items between cursed wagons? Is it stacked belts of different tiers weaving? Is it train track belt weaving? So many questions...
Train weaving
Edit #1: Added more cursed designs.
Edit #2: Re-uploaded attachments. They keep disappearing. Curses.

I think the fastest way to transport goods very *very* long distances would be to put it in a rocket and drop it back down in your landing pad.

Need to send anything back where it came from? Just deconstruct your landing pad so you can build a different one at the other end. With circuits and bots, this could even be done automatically! :D

Edit: With your train weaving design, you might be able to stick in a few turbo belts for additional throughput.

Only with mods, unfortunately. You can't use automated construction operations in unmodded, even in 2.0/SA. Also, this would be the fastest, but definitely not densiest as you will need hundreds of rocket silos to match throughput of a single belt.

Initially, I wanted to make a full-scale post on how wacky some transportation methods can be (I still have some ideas worthy to be shared), but then I found the most-astounishing answer to the original topic so I must post this ASAP.

Two stacked belts have exactly the same throughput as cursed wagon technique with legendary stack inserters. Now live with that.

I'm getting sidetracked here but what's the design of that number display?

Edit: Guessing maybe this: https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comme ... mbinators/ Neat!

From here: 124776: Combinator cookbook 2.0

Also I recommend checking out other designs from that topic, there's a lot of brainstorming on different and most efficient setups.
