TL;DR
There should be an option to disable the new warning icon that appears when a miner has fully depleted the resources in reach. What?
In version 2.0, there seems to be a new alert / warning icon that indicates that a miner has depleted all of the resources in reach. (I can't find this change documented in the 2.0.7 changelog, but I might be missing it.) I feel like there should be some option on to disable this, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do that right now.Example of the warning icon:
Why?
Personally, I always like to keep my depleted miners as a historic relic, preserving the original layout of my factory, especially in my starter base. Keeping depleted miners also helps with symmetry if there are still other functioning miners around; a mining outpost would look quite weird if some of the miners were removed, seemingly at random. So if you, for whatever reason, want to keep your miners around, having a flashing warning icon on top of each and every one of your miners can be quite distracting. Besides, electric mining drills already have a (more subtle) indicator for this, by displaying a red light. This issue can be partly alleviated by globally disabling warning icon blinking under Settings > Graphics > Accessibility, although it also disables flashing all other similar warnings, which may make more important things harder to notice.
Other Considerations:
- This is a good feature to have, as it makes it very clear why the miners are no longer producing any items. It's just that not everyone needs or wants this to be displayed in such as jarring way.
- As mention previously, the flashing can be disabled globally via settings, so this is not an accessibility issue. But ideally, we would have a way to individually disable this specific warning entirely. (Not just the flashing.)
