I have absolutely no idea what caused the crash or why. I am watching a movie on the side for a while now, when I experienced an unknown error crashing it related to sounds.
Cannot find path specified.
G:\SteamLibrary\Steamapps\common\Factorio\data\base\sound/world/world_base_wind.ogg
The file is there in the specified path.
Yes this is the exact same save as my last crash report

Re: [2.0.23] Windows11 Crash tabbing back into game, No DLC, Cannot find the path specified
You could try verifying game integrity since it seems to be missing some files.

Hmm, I wonder if the use of a / instead of a \ is the cause of the problem?TheVillageIdiot wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 2:40 am I have absolutely no idea what caused the crash or why. I am watching a movie on the side for a while now, when I experienced an unknown error crashing it related to sounds.

Also, can you reproduce the crash, or did it just happen once?

The error might just be the first sign of corruption or some anti virus is interfering. As already said, you should verifying the installation.

Re: [2.0.23] Crash tabbing into game "Audio stream read failed: Cannot find the path specified"
The log shows the game was unable to find a bunch of other audio files (music) before it crashed. The game checks those files exist when it's starting so something unexpected must have happened with your drive. Is it a network drive or external drive or a drive that can go to sleep?
I will look into handling such case more gracefully (like it did with several music files before the crash).

Re: [Donion] [2.0.23] Crash tabbing into game "Audio stream read failed: Cannot find the path specified"
The crashing part is fixed for the next release, 2.0.27. It will now handle the error gracefully and just not play the audio stream.
Why the audio stream is encountering these errors seems to be something with your system outside of our control.
If you keep encountering this (it shouldn't crash anymore but you would lose most music and wind sounds), post in technical help with more info about the drive Factorio is installed on and your setup in general.

It is in fact on an external ssd, I will try relocating it and see if that fixes the problem. I have validated the files and nothing failed to verify. And I haven't been able to reproduce it so yes it could actually be something outside of factorio.Donion wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 3:58 pm The crashing part is fixed for the next release, 2.0.27.
