Game crash on preview of world map.
Messed with settings regarding Nauvis resources, higher richness, frequency, size. After doing so I reset values to normal and my game crashed a few seconds later. The game was running fine in those few seconds so unsure if related.

Re: [2.0.23] Crash on world preview.
Thanks for the report. I suspect your CPU may be failing due to the intel 13th/14th gen hardware issues. I've seen this crash before but so far nobody with a stable system has been able to reproduce it.
If you do know how to reproduce it, let me know.

Can confirm CPU damage,
Looks like the hardware fix I got was not the end all be all months ago so yep
Thanks for letting me know, flashing the bios now to avoid anymore harm.
Have a good one!

Re: [2.0.23] Crash on world preview.
Curious, Is there any particular reason that Factorio seems to trigger these crashes, more so than “just running Windows”? Is it because of the strong consistency checks against Desyncs, or more likely to be because “generating the map” causes a high CPU load?Rseding91 wrote: Mon Dec 16, 2024 11:25 pm Thanks for the report. Re: [2.0.23] Crash on world preview.
Generating the map preview will use 100% of the CPU and asks it to do a lot of complex math, essentially maxing out the CPUs ability to crunch numbers and move memeory between RAM and the CPU.
That’s not a normal load for a computer and so it seems to stress it a lot more than just running background process logic.
