The main menu gameplay is WRONG
This construction in the main menu background gameplay doesn't make sense. The circled asteroid collector outputs the asteroid onto both sides of the belt thanks to the splitter but the underground blocks off the second lane from going through. This is a useless design first of all, and secondly the asteroids should start piling up next to the underground after the first 2 come out. Yet we can see asteroid chunks further down the belt and the ship is in motion so clearly more than 1 asteroid chunks have come out from that collector.
Either this weird design should be deleted or asteroid chunks should be piling up next to the underground. As it is it could only happen in normal gameplay if the engineer was dedicated to manually deleting and rebuilding this splitter/underground combo every time an asteroid chunk was collected which is antithetical to factorio automation.
Yes this is a really important issue.

This is not a bug.
Re: The main menu gameplay is WRONG
Well, the scenario shown is indeed wrong (from reasonable-player-gameplay point of view), but not for the reason you stated.
This underground belt does not connect, because there is no platform between the ends.
Subsequently it does not deliver carbon to chemplant, so no fuel.
Which means to replicate the scenario, you have to build the missing platform tiles, let fuel tank fill up, then remove the tiles.
Also, the platform has insufficient defenses (only two front-facing turrets), in my test it barely survives half a trip without a damage, then loses ammo production.
Other asteroid RNG means direct hit to 1000C reactor, explosion and immediate loss of the platform.
The inserter you highlighted is actually working fine, it drops chunks on the splitter's output belt, they never get into the actual splitter.

I'm curious, how do I load the main menu simulations as a save?Muche wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 6:46 pm Well, the scenario shown is indeed wrong (from reasonable-player-gameplay point of view), but not for the reason you stated.

Re: The main menu gameplay is WRONG
They are located in the “data/base/menu-simulations” folder, in your Factorio installation folder. Copy them to your User’s saves/ location and you can then “Load Game”. They are all “editor scenarios”, and have some rough edges outside of the Menu-visible portion.IsaacOscar wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 2:17 am I'm curious, how do I load the main menu simulations as a save?
