Large Power Poles on Water

Post by nova4x »

Given the addition of elevated rails which are able to cross bodies of water, and other fluids. I think it befitting to allow large power poles, or potentially a crafted variant of them, to be placeable over water/other fluids. It's quite common to just run your power lines with your rails and having to bring landfill to do so now with the fancy elevated rails feels less than ideal.

If an alternate recipe where to be in the cards then it could just use refined concrete much like the elevated rails and appear with a foundation inside of the water. Visually I think this would pair quite nicely with the elevated rails.

If this has already been suggested, which I figure it has, my bad. I spent some time looking for keywords and couldn't find a post that matched what I was envisioning.

 Seems fair to me!
I actually think this is a bad idea now, because it trivializes Fulgora. :?

This really seemed like a no-brainer when they introduced elevated rails in the Friday Facts

Just take the rail base and stick a power pole on it

Quoting this because it settles the issue and people may not have noticed your edit.

I don't think so, you could just lock the ability to place them over the Fulgora ocean behind the same research that lets you place the elevated rails over the oil ocean.

Doesn't seem like it's worth a whole new science just to achieve what we already have.

I think you misunderstand, I mean alongside the ability to place elevated rails on the Fulgora oceans, allow power poles to do the same thing as part of the same research. Makes sense with the nature of what is already unlocked.

It doesn't though. Currently, placing power poles on Fulgora's oceans is unlocked by foundation, which is much later than the tech which allows elevated rails on deep oceans. Also, elevated rails can currently be placed on shallow oceans without that tech.

Any form of this suggestion would radically change the balancing of power on Fulgora.

I have lost count of the number of times I just wished the tracks carried power. Maybe too much time spent playing Satisfactory...

I see what you're saying now. I guess that is an issue if it's part of the intended balance but you also just put a bunch of lightning rods so idk if it really changes all that much. For places like Nauvis and Gleba though I think it makes perfect sense.
