The current alternative, running surface.find_entities_filtered({ name = "cargo-pod" }) frequently, is quite inefficient.

Yes please! This would be quite useful to me too.
We have on_rocket_launched for planets but nothing comparable for a space platform.

This'd also definitely be useful for us since we'll want to announce this to our players (Factorio Access again).

Would be real cool if the event passed the contents of the pod, too.

Yay! We have on_cargo_pod_finished_ascending now.
