I noticed my uranium mining was not producing any uranium, and although all miners were connected to sulfuric acid they were not mining due to insufficient liquid.
There was acid in the tank, and the pipeline only had acid in it.
In an attempt to self debug I added a pump to the acid pipeline and when I powered the pump the contents of the pipeline changed to crude oil. Adding a sink to the pump will change the liquid inside the pump to oil and the pipeline back to acid.

Looks like you had previously parked a crude oil train in front of the unloader pump, sent it away, then built the tank and pipeline.
The unloader pump filled itself with 400 units of crude when that crude oil train made a stop there and you didn't notice.

In this case shouldn't clicking on the pipe show that there is also oil in the pipeline?

Perhaps the oil is in the pump not the pipes? Also crafting machines have an internal hidden fluid storage that can cause surprises.
