[2.0.23] Crash loading game and Streamlabs simultaneously (in graphics-hook64.dll)

What did you do?
Started the game from Steam as usual, as the game was loading I also booted up Streamlabs Desktop.

What happened?
As I was clicking through the different sources in Streamlabs to find the factorio video source I heard the default windows error sound. The game had crashed and I got the factorio crash window telling me to report the bug with the current log.

What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
I expected the game to load normally without crashing

Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
I have managed to replicate it two times in the three times I tried it. It doesn't seem to happen when I already have streamlabs open and I have to be actively selecting different sources for the game to crash it seems like.

I realize this might very well just be a Streamlabs thing and beyond your control, but I wanted to make sure to report it either way.

Thanks for the report however as you guessed there is nothing we can do about this as the code crashing is outside of factorios control.

In general, overlay software and or rendering hooking software are error prone at best. As far as I know, there is no official supported way to do any kind of overlay on applications and every piece of software that does it has their own custom logic and hacks to make things work most of the time.

Yep, what Rseding said.

The crash happens in a graphics driver thread (outside of our control), in C:\ProgramData\obs-studio-hook\graphics-hook64.dll ... so I have no idea how to prevent it from our side.
