TL;DR
Re-distribute all :space-age: Space Age graphics as a separate bundled mod.

What?
It would be nice to have Space Age graphics components as a separate mod, similar to SE graphics, so other mods could re-use it without depending on the Space Age. Ability to depend on this mod requiring purchased Space Age is completely fine.

Why?
Actually, the only reason to do so is to re-use the awesome frozen sprites in non-SA games, like winter-themed modpacks (i.e., Christmas Candy Factory). Since December is on a way, this is the best time ever to do so!

Yes, you as a modder can just copy files from the SA directory, but I assume that re-distributing them in a normal (non-Wube) mod is not OK from both legal and/or moral perspectives (unless the devs explicitly confirm this is OK).

Actually, Terms of Service explicitly allow redistributing any content.
So, the real reason to redistribute graphics mod would to reduce the size of pack.

Any adaptations or works derived from the Factorio assets are permitted to be included and distributed as part of your mod. However Wube Software Ltd. still retains all rights and license to these assets and the work derived from them, and reserves the right to request removal of these assets from your mod.

And yes I agree with you, even just to avoid having multiple version of the same sprite and to reduce size of mod.

Oh, I didn't notice that this applies to the Space Age too. So, technically, a mod adding all SA buildings to the base game and work-arounding SA mechanics is completely fine?
