[2.0.21] Tank cannot reverse (drive backwards) when hit by enemy acid

Post by awood »

When driving forward, if you get hit by enemy acid, you can't reverse. This happens to me almost every time I go after an enemy camp, if I run into a nest too slowly, or hit a rock, they just keep spitting acid at me and I can't reverse to escape. I'm just stuck until they destroy me (or I have to exit and stop them before the tank is destroyed).

Yeah, that's part of the challenge, interesting. Ok... I guess I just won't ever use tanks anymore then. Part of the point of using tanks was that I could have more power going in, but still some mobility. If there's a scenario where they become 100% immobile (not just slow), then it completely ruins the point. There's no escape at that point.

I figured the acid making everything significantly slower was challenge enough, but being 100% immobile in a certain direction (only backwards, but not forwards?) ruins it for me. It's fine, I'll just do everything on foot, I guess. That's how I played since 0.17, barely using tank. I hoped to give it another shot, but it's not worth it if I can't actually attack nests up close. If I wanted to keep my distance, I'll go on foot.

What?? Tanks are really useful, just don't drive them into stuff unless you're going fast enough to run it over or destroy it on the way (with explosive cannon shells!)

Honestly, I think tanks are a bit overpowered already, especially if you have a bot network to automatically resupply and repair them. It's good they have some downsides.
