You cannot deconstruct entities when you have a Blueprint or ctrl-c/x in hand, but you can deconstruct ghost entities with BP/ctrl in hand, thus it is not consistent.
As of recent conversation with kovarex, deconstructing with bps in hand is considered too chaotic/disorganized, however, I believe that there could be a menu setting which would allow deconstructing for those who dare to (me!)

I couldn't care less if this works with blue prints, but I wish it did work when you want to copy and paste something.
This more often comes up when I am cutting/pasting some belts and need to remove a piece or two to make it fit.
