[2.0.18] Lamps have different brightness when color is set manually vs. by circuit network

Post by Hovedbore »

What did you do?
In a vanilla game with no mods, I placed two lamps next to each other.

Lamp 1: Color set manually to Red 0, Green 0, Blue 0.
Lamp 2: Connected to a constant combinator outputting Red 0, Green 0, Blue 0.
What happened?
The lamps have different brightness levels despite receiving the same color values. This is most noticeable when attempting to achieve a black color, but the difference exists for all colors.

  • All lamps are "always on", except the three on the right which are disabled as a comparison
  • First row is set manually
  • Second row is set via the different color symbols
  • Third row is set via RGB signal values
What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
I expect the lamps to have identical brightness when set to the same RGB values, regardless of whether the color is set manually or via the circuit network.
Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
Always
