I can no longer load my saved game. I get an error message: "Corrupt map. Unknown decorative ID: 132".

I know of at least 3 different threads describing the issue, one of which is a duplicate of the other 2. The issue was fixed (and won't happen again) but existing save games will stay broken (unfortunately) The other 3 threads are older, making this a duplicate of all 3. (The difference between the other 2 non-duplicate threads is that one of them shows how to fix the issue from the other, manually)

Those previous ones are talking about version 2.0.22. I'm talking about the latest update, Ver. 2.0.39.

Corrupt maps have virtually always (one time out of all reports I've dealt with it was a game bug) been caused by failing hardware - not something we can fix.

I have a brand new computer, top of the line and it had zero issues with Factorio until the update. It is not the hardware.

How about you be less dismissive and more inquisitive. Not sure what the attitude is about. It happens any time I try to load a saved game from a different version of Factorio, regardless of Mods, and it happens when I try to load Mods into an existing multiplayer save.

What hardware exactly do you think is not working? Every other game I have works fine and Factorio works fine when I play saves with the same version they were saved into. I have all the latest drivers. My hardware works fine.

Would be nice if you actually wanted to help me. Feels pretty sh*t to pay $50 for Space Age and then have things go wrong.

If you can reproduce it, please post a working save file from any previous version of the game - that works when I load it in that version of the game - and fails to load when loaded in any future version of the game.

Also, one other thing that's worth mentioning is I recently switched from Mac back to Windows. I did have Cloud Backup for the game enabled an sync'd, but I'm wondering if this is the cause, as it mentioned something about a missing JSON file locally.

You said hardware is 100% reliable. Can you check Memtest86+ and prime95 stress test? Run both for at least an hour, or until they show PASSED, and post the results.

You also mentioned that recently you changed hardware or operating system. Maybe run all test on both computers to verify. And if you encounter a new problem on a new configuration, maybe post a new bug report? Good luck!

Before I spend an hour doing that, can you explain why you think it's this, considering it runs perfectly fine on the latest version, on the same version as the save, except after the latest update, etc.? The error messages in the log file are talking about Blueprint issues and icon files. I know there were some icon file updates with 2.0.39. Doesn't it seem far more likely that the newly released Space Age and subsequent updates have causes these issues?

I worked in I.T. for 4 years and I'm all for troubleshooting, but this feels like a stretch. What seems far more likely is some code got updated or the localised JSON file it's trying to reference is missing. My hardware did not change from 2.0.32 to 2.0.39. The only thing that changed was code in the game and the fact that I switch operating systems.

I appreciate the suggestion, but it just seems like the focus is solely on my hardware when the log file references other things.

Sorry that I cannot help you more. Feel free to ignore my advice, of course. But without new input from you, you may not receive any new solutions from developers, or from anyone else, I am afraid. As this already been assigned as "1/0 magic" by developers, meaning very rare, unsolved edge case.

You mentioned that you have obtained brand new computer. Let me ask to be clear:
That brand new computer you bought, you not performed memtest or CPU stress test on it even once? Someone with extensive IT experience should know that this is very useful if not a must-do thing on a new machine. Until your computer passes all aforementioned tests, it remains unverified and at risk of having hardware issues, for example memory problems, which are quite common, actually.

Given there are 3.5 million copies of Factorio out there, and you're apparently the only one reporting this problem, does it seem likely that it's a game bug and you're the only one experiencing it?

I'm unable to reproduce the "Corrupt map. Unknown decorative ID: 132" with the provided save file.

I'm able to reproduce the issue shown in the logs provided with that specific save file however the save file is already in a corrupt state. One of the preview icons for one of your blueprint library blueprints has a quality set to "quality-unknown" which is never supposed to happen. I'm unable to find a way to make that happen with the Lua API or with blueprint strings.
