[1.0.11] Remote train fuel not showing with map closed

Post by firehole89 »

With the new global interaction mode you can see the inventory of trains... given that you open them with map mode on.

I was trying to figure out why my trains weren't following my refueling interrupt.*

And I clicked on one from the map and looked at it's fuel, then I told it to go refuel.
After a bit I clicked on my refueling stop with the map closed to look if the train was going to make it, and when I clicked trough to open train menu from the station, I wasn't able to look at the fuel because "I was not in range". But that does not happen when you open it from the map!

So I can check the fuel on a locomotive if i click on it on the map (where it's sprinting across my screen) or if I first open the map and then the station, but not when I open the same menu from a station with the map closed.

Reproduction Steps
  • Close the map
  • Open the trains interface
  • Open a train
  • Click on the Fuel tab which is greyed out
if done the same but opening the map instead of closing it, fuel is accessible

* it was due to me waiting too long for them to need refueling, expecting them to drop whatever they were doing to go refuel and expecting more dense fuel instead of the coal I was using. A feature to operate with train fuel in Joules instead of units or one for interrupts that do go above all else (even mid-route) would be great but I'm sure they have been suggested elsewhere.

Not a bug, remote view interactions are special because it prevents you from moving actual items. When you open in normal view, even if you are in range, you can't add item requests either.

This is the subject of two recent suggestions: 117165 and 119594.
