Post by Neutronium »

As the title says. Moving research around is awesome, but this makes it faster to move a high priority research into first position

Thank you.

2.0 QOL improvement: research que reordering by dragging

Post by Rubik_Mind »

please change the research requeing to have a dragging bar instead of the current buttons.

the current buttons are barely usefull when moving a tech more than 1 spot because you have to click each que spot one after the other.
having techs be draggable (just like the train conditions or decider conditions) makes reordering one smooth motion and more intuitive.

I think holding Shift should allow you to move a selected research all the way to the front or back.

Research queue move first/last with shift/ctrl

Post by Sworn »

TL;DR
Have the research queue arrows to move research priority list to first / last with key modifier.
What?
Let's say you have there 4 research queued, then you see that you need one research more than other.
Having to keep clicking on that arrow left/right is a pain, its small, and as it keeps moving you can't do it fast.
Would be easily solvable if it moves to the top/end of the queue when one holds shift or ctrl while click.

Why?
Would just make the game interface better with no drawback.

I like this, i would even suggest a drag and drop, and it makes a little satisfying bip/noise when you go over another research in one way or another, to make this fun to use, because atm it happens (too often :( ) that i cancel by missclick and then you have to redo the whole thing again, it discourage from using the research queue, where it could be 'fun' feeling like making an important decision for the factory.

Not as well,
drag&drop is nice to have of course (when other options don't exist, and it's much more discoverable)
but it's also slower (consider drag&dropping stacks of items, how often do experienced players still do it instead of Shift/Ctrl+click ?)
and more error-prone (think how dropping items on furnace lines with furnace ghosts used to work, or drag&dropping folders in a folder tree view).

Research Queue Manipulation

Post by grenade71822 »

TL;DR
When moving research in the research queue around, add when Control, Alt, or Shift clicking, moves the item to either the front or the back of the queue.

What?
When moving items around in the research queue, if I want something to jump to the front of the line, I have to click left button, move mouse to new position, click left button, and so on.

Why?
It would be neat and a little quality of life feature, since there is even more research in Space Age

Expressing my support for this or a similar feature. "Move to the front of the queue" would do 90% of the job of drag&drop and sounds like a low-hanging fruit.

Implemented in 2.0.21 as drag-and-drop. Removed buttons.
