I placed chests for sorting by quality.
The chest displays an item of a quality that is not inside the chest.
I expect the content preview to only show items that are actually inside the chest.
This happens again right away as soon as a new uncommon item is entered by the recycler and taken out immediately from the chest from the inserter. (However it only updates the wrongly displayed item when the player interacts with the chest, if I don't it constantly shows either uncommon concrete or uncommon ice, despite them not being inside)

I just realized that it is not the item inside the chest that is uncommon, but rather the chest itself.
So the visualization is not incorrect but, confusing.

Facepalm. In that case i am moving this back to bug reports and unassigning myself because this is not about inventory logic but about rendering.

You gotta admit that it sure as hell looks like the item in the bottom left is uncommon though!

Direct comparison. One is a legendary chest with normal item, the other a normal chest with legendary item. The quality of the chest is displayed on top of the item quality, blocking it.
