Upgrade/deconstruction planner presets

Post by macdjord »

There are a number of common tasks that upgrade and deconstruction planners get used for, and it would be useful to have presets to allow these tasks to be done without manually configuring a blueprint for them. We already have one preset just like this: the 'Rocks/trees only' toggle on deconstruction planners.

However, I would suggest that these presets, rather than being a mode switch like the 'Rocks/trees only' toggle, should be a button that populates the planner with the relevant items, but then allows the player to further customise the planner. As is, if you want to remove rocks and trees, you can use the toggle, but if you want to remove e.g. rocks, trees, and items on the ground, you cannot just add 'Item on ground' to the planner; you have to manually create your own rocks-and-trees planner that lists every type or tree, and then add 'Item on ground' to that.

Useful presets include:
  • Remove rocks, trees, and cliffs
  • Remove all constructed items but leave natural features (rocks, trees, and cliffs) alone
    • You can currently almost do this, by using the 'Rocks/trees only' toggle in 'Blacklist' mode, but that will also mark cliffs for removal
  • Remove dead trees (both non-living tree decoratives, such as Dead Hairy Grey Trunk, and formerly living trees that were killed by pollution damage) but leave live trees alone
  • Remove walking tiles (stone brick, concrete, refined concrete, and hazard versions thereof)
  • Remove all Fulgoran ruins except lightning collectors
  • Upgrade belts, undergrounds, and splitters of one colour to another colour
And yes, I know I can create planners for all these tasks and keep them in my library (well, except for 'remove trees killed by pollution'; I don't think there's a way to do that while leaving live trees of the same species intact yet). But I could do the same for a 'Remove rocks and trees' planner, and we have a preset for that, because it's useful.
