I sent my spidertron, with some stuff in its equipment grid, to another planet. The equipment grid still shows when it is in the cargo landing pad, so I pick it up with Q and place a ghost.
When I did this, the spidertron was successfully placed (it's the only one in the logistics system in there), but its color was reset to default and it lost all items in the equipment grid.

Re: [2.0.15] Spidertron equipment vanishing when placed by robots
When you picked it up with Q, you didn't pick up that specific spidertron with its equipment. Q is a pipette that picks up a generic item of that same type, so you've only picked up "a spidertron" and placed on the ground a ghost of an empty spidertron.
Edit to clarify:
Your equipped spidertron was used to place that ghost, and then its equipment was marked to be removed. It is somewhere in your logistics network.

Re: [2.0.15] Spidertron equipment vanishing when placed by robots
I loaded up a savegame and tried this again.
You are indeed correct, but the items were indeed missing in my case.
When I place it with Q, the equipment grid gets cleared, with all items marked with an X so bots take the items out.
Turns out the items were not in the logistic network, because they were still being held by robots that didn't have any logistic storage chests in which to drop them...
Now when I tried to reproduce this, the logistic network was already full of items, so the bots didn't even bother collecting the items and they were still in the grid with X. I added some chests and they got properly taken away and stored.
Maybe I could try copying the spidertron before shipping it, then try pasting it on the other planet, to keep everything as is.
So this is not a bug. I'll try editing the original post's title. Thanks!
EDIT: loaded a previous savegame again, created a blueprint of the spidertron and saved it in the global blueprints, loaded up a save just before i place the spidertron and placed it using the blueprint - success! it kept the color and equipment.
