Factorio runs slower on linux vs windows

Post by Sovietsanta »

Hello, Im in need of some help, this has possibly been a long term problem before 2.0 but im not sure but it was not until recently I looked further. My game fps run slower on linux vs windows, I originally thought my gtx 760 may have been to slow so I ended up buying a used titan xp, Now since I bought it I have had to switch from pclinuxos (which also had this problem) to debian and am am now on a fresh install of debian and factorio still runs slow, UPS is always runs at 60 but on linux my fps varies between 20 to 35 and seems to be inconsistently changing when I move in game or zoom out giving a stutter feel. I have both tried the steam version and standalone with the same results, today I had the idea to boot into windows 10 and set up the same way and fatorio runs smooth as butter 60/60, If anyone could help I would really appreciate it because Im not sure where to look or what to try.

Which drivers are you using on linux, the non-free Nvidia drivers (there should be a package available in non-free to install the nvidia drivers), or the open source (neuveau) drivers?

Definitely worth thinking about trying the non-free Nvidia drivers if you are using the open-source drivers.
