[Lou]Remote view and blueprint/deconstruct/upgrade planners

Post by thatspsychotic »

there are a couple things with the remote view though that are a bit strange in the ghost cursor... for the blueprint, and the deconstruction and upgrade planners, if you select the blueprint from the ghost cursor view, my expectation would be that this allows you to directly create a blueprint, use a blank deconstruction planner, or default upgrade planner... but when you select it and you have it in your hand, clicking and dragging just pans the remote view as if you had nothing in your hand, whereas selecting a new blueprint or deconstruction planner from the quick bar at the bottom of the screen behaves exactly as expected. what is the purpose of these blueprint/planner ghosts in the ghost cursor menu in remote view? is this the expected behavior?

i think what's throwing me off is that my muscle memory to bring up the inventory to place items (using the E key for example) does more or less the same thing in terms of bringing up the ghost cursor, but instead of picking up a blueprint/planner out of the inventory and being able to use it in the map view, it doesn't work like that anymore... but if you have a blueprint/planner in the quick bar (which references your inventory) it works just fine, but otherwise there's no way to get to your inventory from the remote view

Potentially related to this:

In remote view, with a blueprint book in the quick bar, and a blueprint in the quickbar that you'd like to add to the blueprint book, right-clicking the blueprint book opens it to view/edit its contents, as expected. However, when you select the blueprint on the quickbar and attempt to add it to an open space in the blueprint book, the blueprint refuses to be added to the blueprint book. Exiting remote view, and performing the same set of operations, successfully adds the blueprint to the blueprint book. This is confusing and inconvenient, it would be preferred if this functionality worked successfully regardless of whether in remote view.

To add to this, remote view upgrade planners can't be modified without putting them on a hotbar first, which is somewhat inconvenient.

Maybe you should be able to edit them through a keybind and/or right-clicking the new upgrade planner button bottom-right?

Thank you for the reports. The original issue has been fixed for 2.0.19.

The second one seems unrelated, quick check on internal 2.0.19 did not reveal descibed behaviour, if the issue persists once 2.0.19 is released, please make a separate bug report.

I am not sure what the third report means exactly. As far as I can tell, the behaviour is the same in normal and remote view. Furthermore, IIRC there is a way to pre-configure some of these tools, I just can't remember now

Thanks Lou, I'll check for the 2nd behavior again once the update comes out, but you're right that the fix may have improved other similar behaviors.
