Wrong grid allignment when copying things to build

Post by nitrofen »

Hello Developers. Experiencing same issue since start of the Space Age in copying objects. Built rails, train stop, loader system; copying it to new place along with same conveyors and it miss aligns which preventing from finishing building. I have attached screenshots where its possible to see this. Also rails are hard to attach to existing system and most of the times need to rebuild infrastructure as it wont attach but also be miss aligned. :? Thank you in advance!

Can you post a save that produces this issue? Does it happen on the latest experimental (2.0.18)? At least one blueprint alignment bug was fixed but I'm not sure if this would be affected.

Edit: Derp, should have zoomed in. Boskid is right, this is just a rail grid alignment issue, not a bug.

There is an "attachments" option below the forum reply box to post them directly if they are small enough. You can also post links to google drive, Dropbox etc.

It looks like the blueprint contains rails inside which are buildable on 2x2 grid and as such entire blueprint is snapping to a 2x2 grid. If you want to build them freely, remove rails from the blueprint and it will be buildable with any alignment.

@boskid, ive tried like you said and it worked! thanks a lot. but another question is what is the best approach to copy all of it with rails so then i can be attached to new builds? What im facing right now is that i designed one ore patch with loader, and trying to make another one using same amount of same belts and same amount of inserters and stuff like that, but i cant copy with rails due to your explanation, and i cant add rails after it was copied and setup.... so what is the best way to do that?

Place rails first.

But that's not the intent of the copying...how can the existing rails+whatever devices be different from when pasting it to the other place?

Either a) include the Train Stop in the blueprint so you know the unloaders line up with the wagons, or b) make 2 blueprints, one with rails and Train Stop and a second one with unloading belts that you place after the rails. Or c) get clever with the grid alignment settings in your belt blueprint so it lines up with the rail grid in one direction and lets you slide in the other, without needing rails in the bp. Not sure if that'll work though.
