Hello,
I'm running a Factorio server on my private setup using the following Docker image:
- factoriotools/factorio:stable@sha256:c7eb4e970126dac619475718e5c7fa17673ad440ca420941b90710cf47b6b240
- factorio.version 2.0.14
With the following mods:
- AutoDeconstruct_1.0.2.zip
- AutoGhostBuilder_0.1.5.zip
- BottleneckLite_1.3.2.zip
- Cursor_Craft_2.2.0.zip
- even-distribution_2.0.2.zip
- flib_0.15.0.zip
- mod-list.json
- mod-settings.dat
- VehicleSnap_2.0.0.zip
After recently installing AdGuard on the same server, I noticed numerous DNS requests attempting to resolve 'multiplayer.factorio.com'. A quick count suggests about seven requests per minute, which seems quite high.
Could you please clarify if this frequency is intentional? It seems excessive and may impact performance.
Thank you for your assistance!
[2.0.14] Excessive DNS Requests for 'multiplayer.factorio.com' on Factorio Server
Re: [2.0.14] Excessive DNS Requests for 'multiplayer.factorio.com' on Factorio Server
Factorio sends http keepalive requests to the multiplayer service so its entry stays in the server list. It has no direct control over the DNS requests your server sends. I assume you need to check your servers name resolution setup and ensure it does some caching.

Thanks for the quick response.
I understand what's happening, I see the requests as they get into the DNS service. This service does cashing, so there isn't any problems. It was just something that I noticed. Perhaps the container itself should do some cashing.
Just to get an idea about the requests vs average internet usage:
