Every now and then, when switching remote views or from remote view to regular character view, I still hear the music from the surface I was just looking at. I also noticed it in other people's games while watching their streams. One of them by the name of Raiguard even commented on it. So it's not just my game.
I believe it is a bug. However, I currently have no way of reproducing it reliably.
[Donion] [2.0.14] music from wrong surface/planet playing every now and then
Re: [2.0.14] music from wrong surface/planet playing every now and then
If you happen to encounter it again, please record a short clip with the "show-detailed-info" debug option (press F4) enabled.
Without a recording or reproductions steps there is nothing I can do, as far as I know the music switching works correctly.
Note that when switching surfaces, the current track fades out over a period of time, followed by a pause and then the new track fades in.

Can you specify "fades out over a period of time"? Like a couple seconds? Or more like 2 minutes?Donion wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 2:06 pmIf you happen to encounter it again, please record a short clip with the "show-detailed-info" debug option (press F4) enabled.

Re: [2.0.14] music from wrong surface/planet playing every now and then
It happened again …
Now I have it captured on video. Vulcanus music was continuing for at least 2 minutes while looking at my space platform.
(sorry for the strong compression on the video, but I wanted to have the file on the forums instead of externally)
I have no idea how I'm triggering this. Might be related to me just switching between surfaces quite quickly.
Let me know if you need more / different info next time I catch this behavior.

Additional info from a log of the game where I just launched and closed. In case you need some hardware info.

Re: [2.0.14] music from wrong surface/planet playing every now and then
The fade out is supposed to be couple of seconds (unless changed in utility constants via a mod for example).
Yup, looks like there is a bug somewhere. If you figure out exact reproduction steps it would be great, if not I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually.
Edit: I can reproduce it reliably and I know what the issue is.

Re: [Donion] [2.0.14] music from wrong surface/planet playing every now and then
Thanks for the report. The issue is now fixed for the next release, 2.0.16.
It turned out to be caused by switching a surface while the previous music transition was in the fade-in phase in combination with variable music tracks which don't save their playback progress/are not resumed.
