[2.0.6] Big Worms nigh unbeatable

Post by Dune »

I went for blue science before military science, and when I first came across a big-worm it killed dozens of turrets and myself several times. I finally gave up fighting it and opened the /editor and just deleted the thing.

It's so ridiculous that your reach is about five feet and their spit goes for a mile, does about 50% damage to a turret and kills you pretty much in no time, and I had modular armor. Their armor is almost unpenatratable at that tech level. I had maxed damage/shooting-speed for red + green + blue science with steel ammo.

I hesitate to even consider behemoth worms, which I haven't come to yet.

Hello im totali second this

enemy structure HP and WORM HP rising RIDICULOUSLY.

Its totali normal to spend 150 red munion clips to kill a small base.....

This make game play ridiculously grindy and slow you have to make turret position near base and then snipe structures from far whit tank or somehting whit HEAVY HITS ..... any other strategi is pointless.

Please nerf STRUCTURE HP

I wouldn't consider myself a combat master or anything, and I haven't had any problems with big worms so far. I've been using tank + explosive shell + distractor bots (buffed in 2.0). I would also question your overall strategy if you are getting to 50% evolution without starting grey science. That seems like you are trying to make things hard for yourself.

This game is about automation, not fight. Lot people turn off enemies so i dont understand why enemy base are so strong in 2.0.

Consider investing in a tank or something, it's what I did when I realized that just SMG didn't cut it against bigger worms and such. It's Nauvis tech still, after all.

You need a tank, explosives, etc.

You can't forgo military science and then complain that the combat is hard. That's what military science is there for.

If people turn enemies off, then the hitpoints don't matter. Why would we balance combat for those who turn it off?

Agreed. There seem to be some people who don't want to turn combat off, but want it to be really easy. I'm confused why.

Having said that, the game already gives you heaps of ways to make combat easier. Turn off expansion. Turn down biter frequency. Halve all the evolution factors. Or the favourite cheese tactic of achievement hunters: turn pollution diffusion down.

The big worms on Vulcanus are meant to be a tough challenge. But by the time you are building space platforms, you definately should have all prior technology researched. The big worms are also very „territorial“, so as long as you don‘t tuch their territory, they will leave you alone. So you can do a lot on Vulcanus, even without touching the worms.

Spoiler ahead:
With a bit of military research, a pack of 40 turrets with red clips can kill a worm. (It will typically kill a lot of turrets aswell)
But it really depends on how much +damage you have researched before that. Also, modular armor is not the type of armor thats made for space exploration. Its just a very basic starter armor.

So big worms have 10 flat dmg reduction against physical dmg. If you look at your physical dmg after that reduction, you propably understand, why turret pushing did not work.
You can handcraft 100 military science to research *Military 3* to unlock the *Poison capsule*. Those are very cheap to build and to a truckload of dmg against worms and biters. Throw them, wait 20 seconds, maybe throw a second capsule and then all worms in the nest are dead. This even works against Behemoth worms.
If you refuse to use poison capsules, you can also research *Rocketry*. You wont even need blue science and you can then start fighting the worms at their maximum range, so it will be easy to doge. It will be slower, but it works perfectly fine.
