It is possible to exceed stack size limits for items that have updated their stack size limit in version 2.0 (e.g. firearm magazine used to stack to 200 but is now limited to 100). It is possible to combine a full stack from your hand with a partial stack already present in the entity. As far as I can tell, this only affects items with new stack sizes.
Example:
[2.0.14] Exceed new stack size limits within entities
[2.0.14] Exceed new stack size limits within entities

Re: [2.0.14] Exceed new stack size limits within entities
Machine inventories are not restricted by stack size by design. You can also build rocket silos that have item buffers of even 2000 steel at the time in assembler. Can you use/abuse it outside of the machine though?
There could be something wrong with those output caps though after recipe change.

Re: [2.0.14] Exceed new stack size limits within entities
I can replicate it inside assembling machines only. I also now notice that items without stack size changes can do this inside the assembling machines, so perhaps this is a feature I have never paid attention to before now and is not a bug.

I mean you're not wrong the thing is not working very consistently here, this doesn't allow it:
Re: [2.0.14] Exceed new stack size limits within entities
It does not allow you to empty your hand if there is already a full stack in the assembling machine. However, if the assembling machine contains 1 item less than a full stack, it allows you to empty your hand into the assembling machine. So inside the assembling machine output it is possible to stack 199 of an item that has a stack size of 100. This happens with all items though, and is not isolated to items with new stack sizes.
