[2.0.14] Automatic belt underground does not work properly

Some others also report problems with automatic belt dragging. I could not find an example where someone tried out all possibilities like I do here:

1. What did you do?
Tried dragging belt (triggering the automatic undergrounding behaviour)

2. What happened?
The going-under is created, but sometimes spurious middle ones are created, and sometimes no going-up is made.

3. What did you expect to happen instead? It might be obvious to you, but do it anyway!
I would expect it to ignore the cases where a single belt is missing, and jump under those.

4. Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
yes, always

Examples:
For the left 4 it works properly (I checked all types of belt), but the right 4 do not work properly:

I tried out all possibilities where we do not have 2 consecutive belts missing. I indicated the cases that do not work properly with a red box.

Summarize: I found that 156 out of 224 do not work as expected. Note that I only tried dragging down-to-up (forward).
