Understanding Quality Logistics Limitation

Post by rockaday »

Say I wanted to throw a couple quality modules in the assembly machines making piercing rounds magazines, and I refill my ammo with a logistics request.

Under current code, I can't request (through the logistics system) both the normal quality ammo and any higher quality ammo I'm lucky enough to create. Except for trash filters, one is not allowed to create a request for multiple qualities in the logistics system. And once you have a request set up for piercing magazines, you're blocked from creating another one for a second quality.

Is this just a quality of life feature Wube hasn't gotten around to implementing? Or is there some reason why it's better for me to have to miss out on the quality feature if I want to be guaranteed to refill my ammo?

You can order any quality x type combination anywhere.
You can order "any" quality or "quality above".
You can only order bare minimum necessary for exact quality x type combination only though.
You just have to select quality first, type next in order creation. And you can have multiple orders of different quality of same type.
Hope it helps.

Could you please elaborate a bit?
How can I request 200 science packs of any quality?
Only way I found is this, but that will get you 600 packs if they are available.

If you try to use >= condition it only allows to use the request for thashing

Ah, you *can* set up multiple requests for different qualities, I just hadn't figured out how to do it before. Usually I click the item first and it says I'm blocked by a conflicting request. But if instead I change the quality *first*, then click the item, it works! Thanks!

While double-checking this, I've found that for some requests Quality ticker have to be ticked TWICE.
First to be allowed to select the type which was already selected for different Quality.
(next you actually select item type)
Next to be allowed to select "Any" Quality AND comparison conditions (like on first screenshot - notice >= ANY condition). OR comparison condition (as, apparently, selecting >= first, Any next de-selects >=)
Jesus wept...
Upd. 2. see smallest screenshot.
I don't understand anything anymore.
This is not the place where "throwing some straw" is expected.
We can set "less than 0 quantity" and ">= 0" in circuits and logi networks.
Why SILENT unexpected sanity checks here?
