[2.0.12] Updating filter on ghost inserter resets when revived in between

Post by gheritarish »

As a warning, I'm not sure if this is a bug or just an (un)expected behaviour. And I also hope I didn't miss someone reporting this.

What did you do?
1. Put down an inserter as ghost.
2. Set a filter while it is still a ghost.

What happened?
Just as I was setting my filter, the construction of the inserter by a bot happened, closing the menu to select the filter, and forcing to start over.

What did I expect to happen?
Since you can change recipes in ghosts, I would expect that the construction of an item doesn't stop me from configuring it. It's nothing major, but an annoyance.

Does it happen always, once, or sometimes?
Always. Also, I was curious if this behaviour was limited to inserter construction or not, but it seems to be for all machines.

I joined a video of what happens, as you can see:
1. I put down a inserter.
2. I begin to configure it to only filter if quality is above "normal".
3. While I am configuring it, the inserter is built, and the only remaining thing is that there is a filter on it, but not which one.
4. I have to start my filter over.

Like I said at the beginning, I don't know if it's expected or not, it's not major (to me at least) but it has been quite frustrating while configuring stuff planets away, and then having to redo it because it was suddenly built.

This looks like something that was changed in 2.0.18.
2.0.18 changelog wrote:Reviving container ghosts no longer puts colliding items on the ground into the resulting container.
