[2.0.11] Cannot place blueprints/ghosts half on water half off water without using landfill in "non-super-force" mode.

[2.0.11] Cannot place blueprints/ghosts half on water half off water without using landfill in "non-super-force" mode.
1. I tried to build wall blueprints half on water. Using Shift Click because regular Click wont let me.
2. Landfill has been placed underneath the parts that needed it. Without using Super Force Building.
3. I expected the blueprint to place every wall that already had land underneath and not do anything with the walls on water. ( isnt this how it worked in 1.1?)
4. Always using shift. the "non-angry" Ghost. When using Super Force Building it happens too as expected.
I wont attach a save file because I dont think it it relevant.
I could also demonstrate it in its Use-Case for Wall placement using natural chokepoints like water but I assume you can imagine when it would be useful.
I think this was possible before 2.0.
Also wasnt Super Force building advertised as specifically this feature? I know it also has the underground stuff and the deconstructing element. But wasnt this a feature of super force?

Thank you for the report.
The current behavior is on purpose (ie not a bug), we might or might not change it in the future based on player feedback.
In the mean time a tip, for "fixing" those up: deconstruction planner in "tiles-only" when superforced should deconstruct exactly the landfills and stuff depending on it.

I would second that that I would have expected landfill to only be autoplaced in super-force mode.
Thanks for the tip about the appropriate decon setting to be in the tile tab, I was looking in the wrong places for something that would do the job.

Thanks for the Reply.
I guess decon will have to do for now.

Agreed. This is bad blueprint behaviour. Makes it difficult to place turret walls. It didn't used to work like this.

Agreed. I'd prefer this happened only with super force.

Soo I just hit gleba and holy f***.
This is a million times worse on gleba.
I dont have landfill. But I want to force through rocks and trees.
I cant tell obstacles from water.
If landfilling was restricted to ctrl+shift I could see where I could place it without having landfill

This sounds like a great solution to me. Shift for trees, rocks, and cliffs. Ctrl-Shift for landfill.Marco3102 wrote: Fri Nov 01, 2024 4:03 pm If landfilling was restricted to ctrl+shift I could see where I could place it without having landfill

found this thread while googling "factorio don't place waterfill on shift click"
it was unexpected behavior for me too. though the workaround by Lou is decent. perhaps there could be a setting in options (i thought i saw it there that's why i googled), if this is how it used to work.

Thats what I was expecting from reading the FFF's.
Maybe I didnt read it correct. Or things changed.
Landfilling under Ghosts is more important so I guess it was still a good trade.

I was confused / dismayed to find this was implemented as such as well (now most especially due to it being intended). Intuitively, IMHO it should be under only one of the three modes, not two (force vs force and super force building). If the feature was intentional as an accessibility option for those not as familiar with the game, I still think changing to super force building only vs adding a settings toggle would make more sense ... honestly.
Ok, for now I've added to my decon book spool.
