[2.0.11] Game freezing after a minute of booting.

Post by Kabob95 »

Version: Factorio 2.0.11, Space-Age. Windows 11-22631.
Hardware: CPU-R5 7600X, GPU-RX 6800(Driver 24.10.1), RAM-32 GB, Storage-NVME SSD.

Issue: Since updating to the new version, the game opens perfectly fine however within a minute or two of opening the game, the application will stop responding. Sometimes it will recover and work for another 10 seconds before freezing again which it never recovers from. During the initial freeze, Hardware Monitor reports single thread usage in the 10-50% range however during the second freeze it never surpasses 5%. It does not matter if I am reading the update notes, creating a new world, editing settings, or just sitting in the main menu it will still occur. No mods ever installed.

Fixes tried: Verifying game integrity, updating video drivers, uninstalling the game including the User data directory and reinstalling, verifying Windows files, and disabling all AMD Adrenalin options. None have been successful.

Telemetry: These are unintelligible to me but I have included the game log and a memory dump form during a crash(Dump in dropbox as it the sever is not accepting it).

Upon further testing, if I quickly load into a world, the freeze appears to be triggered by opening up the map, technology screen, or trying to save. Again, it is a permanent(10+ minute) freeze so no crash logs have been produced.

Please try moving some older saves out of your Application Directory to free up some space in your steam cloud. https://wiki.factorio.com/Application_directory

I backed up my save folder and cleared it while also turning off cloud saving(to keep it from just redownloading) and I am still experiencing the freezing.

That's unfortunate, let's try one more thing: Does it freeze when you run the standalone version of the game https://factorio.com/download (ZIP package) without steam and discord running in the background? Please attach a new log if it freezes again.

I went ahead and installed the most recent demo version I could (1.1.110), but it is still crashing with Discord and Steam fully closed. I have attached the log and the dump again if that helps at all. As this is 1.1.110 and not 2.0.11 I have been checking to make sure it is not a Windows or driver issue and so far I have not found anything.

Ok. With 2.0.12 the game is no longer freezing and the issue appears to have been fixed.
