Client connecting to previously used server

Post by reagnon »

I have 2 groups I play with, when selecting ¨Connect to address¨, the first time everything worked smoothly. With the second group however, the client wants to connect to the 1st server no matter what I put in the address box (DNS, IP, ip with port)

Both servers are standard vanilla headless linux, Playing on Windows via Steam.
Server 1 is on a local LAN for me.
Server 2 is on a VPS hosted by another player. The other players are in-game so the server works.
Both servers are not listed as public games.

Debugging steps tried:
  • removed AppData folder
    Shutdown server 1
Connected with IP, DNS name, IP with port
    removed password from server 2
Connect to public server (connects correctly)
Verify integrity of game files (steam)
    Relaunch game (many, many times)
Client behaviour:
Selected connect to address, entered server 2 address, client prompts for password with game name of server 1 and password of server 1.

I have only tried space age with version 2.0.10, all clients and servers run this version.

I am continuing to look for a workaround. Where can I remove the saved previous connection?

Thanks

When launching from a different computer with steam cloud disabled the same problem persists. Somehow the configuration is synchronised to this new computer that had never launched space age before

Downloaded the factorio client to bypass steam, the problem persists.
Uninstalled via steam, removed the AppData folder, installed via executable, logged in and problem occured again

All clients/computers asociated through my account connect to server 1 when I try to connect to server 2.
The other players are able to connect to both server 1 and 2.

Do you know of any way I can reproduce this issue?
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

I ran into the same issues!

1) LAN Server I used to connect via Browse LAN games. Has a passsword.
2) Server in the Internet, refusing to connect. The LAN game always shows up.

After not being able to see anything wrong with my game, I noticed that I enabled access to the local lan server via destination nat.

@reagnon, check your firewall and potentially drop the destination nat and/or firewall rules. You disable it temporarily or add an additional rule to only nat things coming from outside. You're essentially natting everything.
