Cargo bay attached to a hub increases inventory of hub but does not contain any of the cargo and cannot be used as an extension of the hub container?
Cargo bay makes more cargo in hub but doesn't contain cargo? what?
Feels fishy, but only in a rare quality way.
Example: Purple flow does not work...
This also does not work...?
Inserters don't interact with cargo bay (MR)

Thanks for the report. That is correct.

So is it broken or not? Cargo bay is for cargo. it extends cargo of hub. it's not a +size module.
Re: Cargo bay extends inventory but can't deliver?
It is not broken. You can not use inserters to interact with the cargo bays. You can notice that when you go to build an inserter next to one it does not highlight the entity as a valid source or destination.

Hi, that should be a nice to have feature to implement
Re: Cargo bay extends inventory but can't deliver?
It is intended to not interact with inserters. It's not a lacking feature or a future to-do but a purposeful game design decision. If inserters could interact with them it would make for one big item teleporter on platforms.

It would be very helpful to have that crucial information in the item description at least. Since this behaviour is unlike every other storage item in the game. Granted we haven't had any storage extension items before, but finding this out just a little too late will be very annoying.
