No longer able to revert to earlier version through beta settings in steam

Post by Diablo »

Hi,

I have now been updated to 2.08 but I would like to keep playing on 1.1.110.
Before I was always able (and from what I understand was the correct way) to revert to an earlier version if I wanted to, using the beta option in steam.
This way I have been able, for instance, to bring an early 0.11 map all the way to 1.x recently. (needed a few extra versions in between because updating a map from 0.11 to 1.x is not possible but it worked like a charm.)
However when I reverted to an earlier version this time, (not a fan of some of the changes, most yes, some no, train briges=awesome, forced smartbelts=awefull) I found that even though steam noted it was loading 1.1.110 (in perenthesis behind the game name in the list) and steam indeed did some downloading of files etc., when I opened the game, the maps I opened and subsequently save, still get stored as 2.08 maps and the about page also still shows 2.08.

This is very inconvenient as I have BP's that no longer work correctly (mainly rail corners as far as I have seen so far , Please see update at the bottom of this post) but am unable to save properly in a 1.1.110 save file, so I can use it in a stand alone copy of the game (non steam) I have installed specifically for playing 1.1.110 instead of 2.08. (yes I have both a steam and non steam version now in order to facilitate playing both versions)

Could I please get a way to play earlier versions of the game again so I can play the game I like.
But more importantly so I can use my BP's again.

Thank you for considering.

Update: the BP's are completely broken, not just the rail corners but most BP's are now just completely empty when trying to import the BP from an export from BP's in 2.08 version of the game. (BP's that have not changed since they were created in 1.x, so no 2.x specific items or recipes)

I read somewhere you need to set the 1.1 AND disable the Space Age expansion to be able to replay v1.1 on Steam. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestion.
I have indeed tried this but alas to no avail. The game still reports as being 2.08 and saves games as 2.08 as well.
Smart belts are still enforced and BP's are still broken.

This is were Koub's information about reverting to 1.1 came from:
Should have worked. Maybe try the none steam approach
viewtopic.php?f=49&t=116421

Or try to fix your blueprints and accept smart belts

Note that you need version 2.09 for this to work
(I think that's still experimental)

Strange, I will try again tonight, perhaps I did something wrong.

Nice, this I will most assuredly do, thank you very much for the reference. (not sure I will ever get used or be able to accept smart belts though. :D )

Like I said I will be playing both but having my BP's available in 2.x will be a much needed incentive to actually load it up. :D

When I uninstall the DLC in Steam library, and select 1.1.110 branch on Steam, the game reverts to version 1.1.110 for me.

Anyhow, you can also download standalone version of 1.1.110 from factorio.com

AAhhh I was disabling the dlc in the game itself on the mod portal screen.

As mentioned in the original post, I already have this up and running. :)

Ah, that explains it. I am glad you were able to figure it out.
