2.0.7 Localization Bug

Post by Doggydog »

On english language, the start research button says enqueue research. Techs that are researched by performing an action behave correctly and say Start Research.

"Enqueue" is a proper English word for "add to queue". Maybe it would be more clear if the button said "Start Research" when the research queue is empty, and "enqueue research" when the new research would be added to the end of the queue. Not sure why techs that can't be researched in labs have a "Start Research" button.

Ah, its a US vs UK english thing. American English does not use Enqueue and would write it out as Add to Queue or just Queue Research. Pre 2.0 also used Start Research for everything so combined with the perform an action research saying Start Research my American brain jumped to it being a typo in the Localization file rather than UK vs US english.

I'm in the US but spend enough time reading UK media that I can no longer tell one from the other. :geek:

I don't see why using enqueue is an issue. Queue is not a word specific to British English only, it is however less common to use in American English. For example its used in technical contexts such as a "print queue", saying "print line" would not be correct. Enqueue follows the same line of reasoning. I live in the US and I understand queue and enqueue just fine.

This localization is also not exclusive to the United States. Its also used in other English speaking countries so why only use American English?
