How much more the devs get if I buy through the website?

Any idea, when can we actually buy (or pre-order) the DLC? only on Monday or earlier?

One issue with this is if everyone is buying at the same time, it might cause issues or outages, delaying people from getting the game. Also people might have issues with their payment, such as the bank putting a hold due to fraud detection, or maybe some other random thing since hundreds of thousands of people will be buying it so there's gonna be at least a handful people with problems. I hope Wube opens up the system to purchases as early as possible so if anyone has payment issues they can be resolved before the launch.

I was thinking the same thing. If purchase through their website opens up the exact moment the game releases on steam, I'll not even risk buying it through their website, I expect the system to buckle under the pressure and my key to be delayed. If I can get it all sorted this weekend I'd rather buy it through their website though. I've waited long enough, so any further delay I'll not take and instead buy on steam instantly come monday to be sure.

Haha! I imagine the folks at Wube would be quite excited if they thought a Factorio launch could crash servers!

Honestly I have no idea what their backend looks like, but odds are it's not been made with the thought withstanding a flurry of thousands purchases all at once, as that was never necessary before. I'm genuinely worried that buying it through the website, which is better for the devs and for me, is going to run into problems. And I just don't want to risk that at this point, I already feel like I'm going to explode from anticipation and hype as is.

Kovarex in a recent interview said buying from Steam during launch helps them more because Steam then markets it to other people.

Some more notes that may help with your decision making: The prices may differ based on where you are because Steam has regional pricing and Factorio.com does simple currency conversion.

I originally planned to buy via the website but after seeing the interview I consider buying on steam. I have one question though:

When I buy the expansion on steam and link my steam account to the website afterwards will I be able to re-download the game from the website in the future even if my steam account somehow get unlinked/deleted/deactivated? I'm asking because the way I understand it steam only sells (time limited?) "subscriptions".
