How can I get my Linux computer to put more resources to F?

Post by NineNine »

I'm running Linux Mint on my workstations that I play Factorio on. I have a game where I'm averaging 7-8 FPS. At the same time I'm playing that game, I can easily watch movies, browse the web, etc. on the same computer. My computer/OS clearly isn't sweating Factorio crawling along at 1/9 speed. How would I, in Linux Mint/Ubuntu, tell my OS to dedicate more CPU time to Factorio?

Look at the system monitor. You probably have a few CPU cores under high load while the others are idling. It can't be changed, it's how the game was programmed, mostly using one CPU core. That can't really be changed either, some tasks are simply not well suited to multithreading.
