Logitech Profile Switching

Post by Beuteschema »

I'm using all Logitech equipment, and I only use 2 profiles in the software: 1 for my browser and 1 for everything else.
I manually disabled all game profiles, because I want to use my global default profile instead with all my hotkeys and stuff.
Usually, the software switches between my 2 profiles anytime I click onto either my browser when any other window is active or any other program when my browser is the active window.
But when switching back from my browser to factorio, the Logitech software doesn't recognize clicking onto factorio as making factorio the active window and I have to either first press the Windows key or use alt+tab, which is both not exactly elegant on my multi-monitor-setup.
This only happens with factorio, which is why I assume, that it has something to do with factorio and not with the Logitech software even though the Logitech software is widely inadequate in general.

I'm using the Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) because of an older mouse (G700s), not the GHub software. In LGS, I experience a similar issue as you. I'm using a Factorio profile to map the additional mouse keys to some Factorio hotkeys, and this profile isn't always made active by LGS, although Factorio has the focus.
No matter if windowed or fullscreen. I have to explicitly switch away, then switch back to Factorio to get the Factorio mose profile activated.

My workaround: I activate the "lock profile" in the profile properties. This way this profile is active as long as Factorio is running. That's not perfect, because if I let Factorio running in the background its profile is still active, but it's better than the wrong profile in Factorio. To make this work for you, you need to create a Factorio profile.

Thank you for your input. My current Logitech peripherals stopped working with LGS some time ago, which forces me to use GHUB instead.
I believe, GHUB does not have this "lock profile" function, so your workaround sadly doesn't work for me.

You can turn off profile switching in GHUB too, at least for an application.

Open G HUB, select your mouse, go to the dropdown in the top right and hit the Manage Profiles option underneath the list. From there you can look through the installed games and select Factorio. Hit the settings button underneath the game list. The Profile Switching option should stop it from doing that.

Don't know if that'll actually help with your problem though. I only keep one profile on my G502 Hero.

You could try disabling the logitech integration setting in Factorio, or disable the integration in GHUB (its next to Settings if you haven't selected a game or selected Desktop profile), and see if that changes anything. Its the only thing in Factorio I can think of that would affect it.

Thank you for your answer. I disabled every game profile manually, so that I may only use my main profile with my hotkeys and macros, as well as my "browser profile" with different hotkeys. In my games, I rely on the hotkeys and settings of my default profile, and having GHUB switch me to a generic game profile without my hotkeys is not what I want. Thus, I also disabled the factorio profile. The Logitech integration doesn't change my situation whether it's turned on or not.
TIL, that the beta client for space age does fix this hole issue entirely, but I don't know if that's because of a fix coming with space age/2.0 or if it's just a side effect of the different client.
