Hi,
I just wanted to say that I support your pricing policy and your development paradigms in general, because lots of people don't get how free markets and (mostly useless) marketing works.
Big developers are about milking their customers with an ever-degenerating stream of woke, uninnovative, bland games, while you focus on one game and put your passion into it to create a masterpiece.
35€ is still a steal for such a game and I personally wouldn't mind spending 100€, bc Factorio is my very favourite game, and It will probably keep this way for decades to come.

Re: Factorio price increase - 2023/01/26
I just want to weigh i non this, and I fully support this pricing. I bought a game back in Janurary for 75 CAD on steam, and it is so broken and buggy that it should not have been sold for that insane price (Cities Skylines II). At least this game worked 100% with full modding out of the box since day one.
Re: Factorio price increase - 2023/01/26
35 EUR is what I spend when I decide to go see a movie. Full of illusion because of the reviews I have read. For two hours of fun that later came to nothing.
On Steam I have almost 6,000 hours played on Factorio, almost 3,000 movies, and I have enjoyed every single one of them.
The price seems ridiculous for what it brings to me.

Re: Factorio price increase - 2023/01/26
so i specifically made an account to clarify what is wrong with this entire scenerio:
to start off with factual evidence, both the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America have both proven empirically that the inflation issue of the past 5 years was not truly inflation but extreme corporate greed being at an all time high, so a 16.69% price increase because of inflation is a shaky excuse at best, and as another user pointed out, a flagrant disregard for a previously given excuse for the first price increase
on to Economics, for indie games the optimal price for most is $15 to $25, as it has the proper balance of being able to sell well and still make a good amount of money, so the first price increase threw it out of the indie Goldie locks zone, then to add insult to injury the 16.69% increase after that during not just a global pandemic, but also during one of the worst economic down turns in world history is appalling at best, but i may point out... games have almost never been affected by inflation, if they were your average video game would be almost $200, so you dont want to open that can of worms
on to personal, for me, i bought the game when it was $20, and was pretty perturbed when it pulled an ARK and increased in price with full launch, luckily not nearly as egregious as ARK, but when the 16.69% increase came around, i just gave up ever buying friends the game, but to make matters even more heated, the announcement from so long ago comes to mind
so this all brings me to now 10/22/2024, where the game is now $70 for full access... this is not a AAA game... this didn't have the expenses of a A game AA game nor a AAA game, so why, do @devs keep insisting on squeezing people for ludicrous amounts of money, i dont want to hear "well if you calculate for time played blah blah blah" it is damn near a whole Benjamin for a game, that frankly is getting a little full of itself it is 350% more expensive than when i first bought it, and with the @Devs asinine decision to be entirely against sales, the game is out of roughly 80% of the US consumer price range
while i am asking for answers that are not diluted in delusion, im well aware no answer will sate my anger at this flagrant greed, so im just going to leave it there, besides one last time of saying it, neither I nor anyone i know will be buying this game nor its DLC for ourselves or friends completely off the facts that the games price has increased by 350%, the game never goes on sale, and the Developers excessive greed had ruined all good will they had with the gaming community at large
go learn actual economics and its impacts on the consumer at large, and fix the price of your game, im out

so did y'all not take in actual economics after this point? i can tell you from personal experience, and the experience of roughly 75% of the US population, $20 was no small chunk of change, and $30 was somewhat pushing it, and in 2022 it was officially declared that the economic down turn had effectively caused everything to be dire for 90% of the US population, to the point that the original metric of "could you afford a $400 emergency" became "could you afford a $100 emergency" and most people who answered said noWe feel that now is a good time to adjust the price of the game. The price of the game has been growing steadily together with the game becoming bigger, more stable and polished. After careful consideration, we have decided to set the new price of the game to 30 USD (or your regional equivalent). This change will become effective as of the 16th of April 2018. This is the final Factorio price update, unless something unforeseen happens, so it will also be the price for the game for 1.0 release.
As you probably know we have a strict no sale policy. The game will not go on sale on Steam or any other platform. This basically means that purchasing before the 16th of April 2018 is the only way to buy the game cheaper than the increased release price.

Just so that you know, the USA is just a small part of the whole world. Maybe that you didn't experience inflation in the USA, and you could live today with your 2019 income - and maybe it's actually the case, that your income hasn't changed in 5 years, and everything is fine.Voltren Xytech wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2024 11:10 amboth the Federal Trade Commission and Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America
But there are parts in the world where stuff just got a lot more expensive. Most things I have to pay for in my everyday life (food, energy, taxes, clothing, Streaming services, Internet access, you name it, ...) have got significantly more expensive in the last 5 years. I call that inflation, but I'm not an economics expert, so OK for calling it "everything got more expensive but it's not inflation".

In Asia, it often requires people to work eight hours a day just to afford this price, which is almost equivalent to the $75 retail price.
While the game may be selling well right now, it's important to recognize that such pricing strategies seem driven more by greed than by genuine economic factors. High prices can alienate players in the long run, especially when they feel taken advantage of. A strong initial sales figure doesn’t justify maintaining inflated prices, and it could lead to a backlash that harms the brand's reputation and future sales
