Smaller robot spiders!

Post by Dutchtaylor »

Double: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=114218
About
Robot melee, lazer spider army Mk1, Mk2.
Spiderlings, Spiderbots which can repair, build, transport items, and help in combat.
What is it?
Smaller map controlled robot spiders then the Spidertron.
What about after blue science we can create smaller remote map controlled robot spiders with lazers and melee attacks (Spiderlings) to get rid of the aliens?
But maybe not only for combat but also for construction as wel?
Why?
Why you ask? We are engineers ment to be lazy.
We already have the flying robots to make us more lazy so we won't have to walk everywhere to build something.
But they can't kill enemies! Which is something we need cause we also don't want to walk everywhere to destroy something!
We want the same thing but then against these pesky biters at the same tier as the flying robots.
We already have the "Follower robot count" but we can't command these units and they die after a timer.
The Spidertron is actually a good option but its way too expensive and only for late game.
We can move artillery on the map, only by train which can be automated but thats even a more pain in the ass then making a bunch of spidertron units with lazers at that stage. Spidertrons can also build remote locations at late tier.

And using a tank is just annoying since i have to spend 30 to 45 min removing spawners.
Which i want to spend building my factory.
Don't get me wrong i like driving over spawners with my tank.
But i like to be lazy and watching an army of spiders destroying these aliens would be a much better sollution then going out there myself.,
Klonan should know what i am talking about with his hive mind mod.
What should be impleneted in this new idea?
- Spiderling MK1 cannot build structures but can transport items.
- Spiderling MK1 have melee attacks.
- Spiderling MK1 can repair buildings not vehicles.
- Spiderling MK1 can attack rocks/tree's but cannot pickup items.
- Spiderling MK1 energy deplets and needs to be recharged in a energy grid or station (Nest).
- Spiderling MK1 can be upgraded in the research tree (Melee Damage infinite)
- Spiderling MK1 can be upgraded in the research tree (Faster Movement Speed)
- Spiderling MK1 can be upgraded in the research tree (More Health)
- Spiderling MK1 cannot self repair or repair other spiderlings.
- Spiderling MK1 cannot cross water or other liquid type of tiles.
- Spiderling MK1 cannot walk over ridges or walls/buildings
- Spiderling MK1 cannot have addons like shields etc.
- Spiderling MK1 without power are very slow until recharged.
- Spiderling MK1 without power can only attack with melee cannot repair

Spiderling mk2
Can do all the things the mk1 can but at a faster rate like repairing etc.

But:
- Spiderling MK2 are a bit bigger, so more health and more melee damage then the mk1 version.
- Spiderling MK2 can build structures but cannot transport items.
- Spiderling MK2 have shields and lazers and can also attack with melee
- Spiderling MK2 have more battery storage to compensate with shields and lazers
- Spiderling MK2 can be upgraded in the research tree (Lazer damage infinite)
- Spiderling MK2 can be upgraded in the research tree (Melee Damage infinite)
- Spiderling MK2 can be upgraded in the research tree (Faster Movement Speed)
- Spiderling MK2 cannot self repair or repair other spiderlings.
- Spiderling MK2 cannot cross water or other liquid type of tiles.
- Spiderling MK2 cannot walk over ridges or walls/buildings
- Spiderling MK2 cannot have addons.
- Spiderling MK2 without power are very slow until recharged.
- Spiderling MK2 without power can only attack with melee and cannot repair or shoot lazers or have shields.

Spiderling Frame recipe:
Steel
Battery
Repair Pack

Spiderling Mk1 recipe: Unlocked with Chemical science pack
Spiderling Frame
Advanced Circuits

Spiderling Mk2 recipe: Unlocked with Utility science pack
Spiderling MK1
Processing unit
Energy Shield MK1
Personal Laser Defense

All spiderling versions can be ordered to defend or attack positions.
Spiderlings are build in a assembling machine.
Assembling machine with the spiderling recipe have a gate where the spiderling gets out of after being build.
Assembling machine has an option to deploy spiderbots after being build or stored as an item.
Spiderlings can only be deployed inside assembling machines.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe if we don't want to overwhelm the factory with these new robots we can setup a population limit for these new units?
This sure shouldn't be a problem if we already have 10k of flying robots.

I like the Heavy Hexbot in the Avatar2 movie https://james-camerons-avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Hexbot

Hope you really like this idea like i do!
Much love DutchTaylor.

Something like this? Although I don't think they can attack. https://mods.factorio.com/mod/spiderbots

I know of spiderlings from this mod :

https://mods.factorio.com/mod/SpidertronPatrols
Spiderling is a slower, smaller and weaker spidertron unlocked by chemical (blue) science
They are only a (minor) part of the mod.
