Preorder of Factorio 2.0 DLC and get NEW RAILS EARLY!

TL;DR

What ?

Just what it says.

Why ?

Gives users something new to play with and get used to before the main release.
It will give us all time to play with that wide reaching change before rest of the stuff hits with the actual release.
I'd pay a premium right now just for that and still buy the DLC 2.0 when it comes out.

I think if they put preorders out for 5x release price, but it came with access to the 2.0 experimental branch they would probably get an awful lot of sales.

And make a few "triple-A" studios very jealous.

Problem with that is that they're probably not done with 2.0, yet, plus by doing so they'll start getting bug reports for it that they'll need to concentrate on instead of the Expansion, pushing its release date back....

No, I'd rather wait.

0.6.4 is the oldest they still let you download.

While I understand what you're getting at, this would mean an additional release branch the devs would be putting time toward (and away from the rest of the expansion), and it would create an expectation in some for the same on the expansion.

Don't get me wrong... I would've loved for them to have done the same thing with the expansion as they did with the game. But they didn't, and this far into it, I'd rather they just keep going as is to release vs giving us what they have now and causing everything else to get pushed further out.
