Special skins rewards based on playtime
Gives a crown to players who totalled 10k+ hours playing the game, a purple aura for 50k+, and golden armor for 100k+

Re: Special skins rewards based on playtime
This might work if there was just one character that could be used by players, but there are way too many characters available where your crown and golden armor wouldn't fit (see here for the alternative characters I know about).z-em wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 1:09 am Gives a crown to players who totalled 10k+ hours playing the game, a purple aura for 50k+, and golden armor for 100k+![]()
A good mod deserves a good changelog. Here's a tutorial (WIP) about Factorio's way too strict changelog syntax!
Re: Special skins rewards based on playtime
Changing player appearance? There are mods for that...
For example, https://mods.factorio.com/mod/GirlCharacter

My own personal Factorio super-power - running out of power.

Plus, this is too easy to cheese:
- Start a new map with biters off
- Let the game run
- ???
- Profit

If a factorio player wants to show off in multiplayer we have blueprint books already.
Re: Special skins rewards based on playtime
Tbh, I'm not fond of rewards based on (excessive) playtime. Playing the game should be the reward in itself, the game shouldn't be turned into something one is mandated to endure in order to earn a reward.
Achievements are a similar thing : I have a better gaming experience when there are no achievements, because when there are, I feel compelled to try and get them, which usually makes the game less enjoyable.

No thanks. I enjoy this game without the asinine superficial "rewards" To be honest, I wish achievements did not exist in this game. I never liked achievements as it creates a superficial feeling of accomplishments. I think Valve/Steam was on a mega-brutal drug that day when they said there should be Steam Achievements.

Those are fair points. Not mine but understandable.Koub wrote: Fri Oct 06, 2023 8:24 pm Tbh, I'm not fond of rewards based on (excessive) playtime. Playing the game should be the reward in itself, the game shouldn't be turned into something one is mandated to endure in order to earn a reward.

I don't mind the "You've done thing X" achievements. Stuff like "Has launched a rocket."TheKillerChicken wrote: Sat Oct 07, 2023 11:07 am No thanks. Factorio is mostly those, with that last green circuit achievement being a stand-in for "has built a megabase."
Lets keep it to stuff like that.
