[1.1.87] Choppy sound ingame after opening other programs

Every time I'm playing factorio normally without any other programs (but with spotify before launching the game) the sound is normal, however whenever i oepn any other program, for example Discord, the sound gets all messed up in the game, any outside audio such as the ping sound or music from Spotify is left untouched.

This issue didn't happen in older versions however (predating 1.1.87) and the "fix" i found for this is pretty weird, which has me go to windows settings (that's right, the OS) and go to sound settings, incredible enough the sound fixes itself most of the time.
