Bugs that are actually features.

[1.1.87] Launch: Remember last used monitor

Post by Lizzy »

One of my setups is a Windows 11 machine with two monitors, one above the other.
My main monitor (as defined by display settings) is the bottom one so that the taskbar is there.
The monitor I like playing games on is the top one.

When I launch Factorio I have this silly workaround where:
  1. I press Alt+Enter and wait for the startup process to take my keystroke. It usually takes one or two seconds.
  2. I drag the window up to the correct monitor. No delay.
  3. I press Alt+Enter to return to full screen. It takes a short while to process that keystroke again.
Theoretically I'm not wasting time, because it's all at the loading screen, but it's some frustrating 3 seconds every time I start the game.

You can change preferred screen in graphics settings, it will be remembered.
Also, there is a handy windows shortcut to quickly move applications between screens: Win + Shift + left/right arrow key

A shortcut with an almost perfect mnemonic for the key presses: shift windows left/right (surely not a coincidence).

Oh thanks. I didn't think to look into options for this.
